In one of the oldest streets in the centre of Florence, the artists Pier Francesco and Sofia have created the studio "Il Tamarino Stampe d'Arte", an elegant and friendly environment where they can be seen at work since February 2005.
Via del Moro, 46r, 50123 Florence, Metropolitan City of Florence, Tuscany, Italy
This is an intaglio workshop where Pier Francesco Mearini produces limited edition original etchings on copper plates and hand watercolours using an ancient technique developed in the 15th century. When the etchings are ready, they are painted in watercolour by Sofia. Witnessing the various stages of the process is a privilege that the artists are happy to grant; following the entire manual process, from engraving to stamping to watercolour, has a magical creative flavour that takes shape from the precise dexterity of the artists, emerges from the print and is brought to life by the subtle addition of colour. The subjects of the prints are varied: landscapes, cityscapes, children's themes, plants, animals, etc. Tamarino Stampe d'Arte offers the possibility of commissioning works, with the client providing the images, using different techniques of etching and watercolour. In the workshop, we also handcraft the frames, which are carefully made by hand to obtain the best possible match to the proposed image.
